VIN number - where exactly is...

Postby Kamien » Fri Feb 24, 2017 1:09 pm

Hi, I'm going to buy Alpine A610, and I'm looking someone who can help me.
I don't know where can I find full VIN number (on to the car body/chassic)?
Maybe you have some example photo?
I want to compare with identification plate from engine bay.
Thank for your help.
Matthew.

Welcome Matthew.

It's on the front right hand strut top. You need to remove the plastic battery cover (carefully).

Is it the one on ebay in Cumbria?

Thanks BIG_MVS !

No, no from Cumbria.
I don't see any Alpine to sell from this area.

Can you show me on the photo?
Where exactly?
I don't know this cars (yet), don't want to unscrew too many parts.
Even I don't know where is battery cover.

Battery is in the front.
I dont think it would be unreasonable of a buyer, to ask a seller, to show him the chassis Serial Number.
If he does not know, you can tell him that you have been told "It's on the front right hand strut top. You need to remove the plastic battery cover (carefully)."

If you want to check out the MOT history, go here with the registration no and see the warnings from last 10 years.

Good luck, there will be folk on this site that know the car, might help you with pricing and estimating any hidden costs or repairs desired.

Look forward to your news soon, even if you decide against it.

Matthew where are you based?

Here is a picture of under the front load cover the VIN number will be under that plastic cover beneath the windscreen wipers on the opposite suspension strut top.

You will need to remove the rubber seal in the middle first, then the cover will come free. There are also (or should be) two plates in the left hand side engine bay. One with the VIN and one with the fabrication number. Hope this helps.

Not mine Stu Pot. Nicked the pic from ebay as it's the recent 10 bagger.

I wonder where that will turn up, that was a bargain.

Well unless it's already been done Rats for the removal of the hidden crumbling stuff, if it has been done it was a bargain, if not then it was not that bad a price when the camera has a look in :(
