Yes the switch just isolates the display as don't need it permanently on and not sure how long they would last - just allows me to monitor the level when in hibernation.

Rear shocks on their way back from Bilstein this week. Just need to source the bearing rubbers.

An open ECU preloaded with my map has already been delivered so I now need to swap over and ensure the car runs as before I can fully access for future changes. A frustrating and unnecessary cost that I have had to incur from earlier work.

Also a few bits of bling for the engine bay so with a bit of spare time at the weekend I could be back on the road for Sunday!

Good luck with the upgrades. Be great so see it up and running again. Perhaps we can compare Spiders at a meet sometime (probably next year now though). Ian

Would be great to meet up and compare next year.

Now all back together with refurbished suspension and a few other bits and pieces.

Suspension was reset to OEM settings so need to see if the tyres still catch on the bodywork in case I will still need to raise the rear a little - waiting for a dry day!

All looking very nice in that engine bay now - feeling a bit jealous if I'm honest!

Re: Spider R787AOW - Oil Pan Leak?

Postby davidmt » Tue Jan 17, 2017 12:13 am

Ok now time to get the plan drawn up and parts ready to cure an oil leak. More of an issue as the Spider is on a ramp about the wife's AMG SL63!

Clearly the last time the sump was removed the gasket was replaced with some kind of sealant - does that mean gaskets are not available.

Also it looks like there is a leak from the gear box side - anyone know what seal/gasket is required for when I drop the pan and start to clean up the leak?

Any other tips? Photos below - only a few drops when cold but worse when running and hot.

Haven't got round to dropping the oil pan yet and got distracted with some LED lights.

Spot the (huge) difference.

Lol - yes. Have had the central seat section recovered in leather so added the heating elements at the same time. Also adding electric mirror and electric door openers at the same time.

Almost time to actually drive again :) .

And here are the leather covered and heated seats. I have a set for both seats.

Also had some harness pads made up as the Sparco ones that came with the car have had their day. These were made from some French pads I was sold but did not fit.

Couple of small updates.

Had a thin seat base made to match the new inserts. This is a one piece (heated) base to replace the 2 separate pads. Very happy with the result and having one made for the other side so they are fully interchangeable.

Also didn't like the metal braid so changed it on the coolant hoses. Now looking much better.

Just a little update today although I think I am just talking to myself on here.

I started to remove the sump but a couple of the bolts are rounded so need some help or extractors to get them out!

Instead I decided to fit the high torque starter motor. Not a bad job once you have the workshop manual.

Sadly no oil in the car so can't test it yet!

your not! keep up with updates!
never thought I would want a list but now find myself needing one just to remind me: Clio V6 230, 5 gt turbo, 5 Gordini turbo, Megane RS 300 Trophy.
