Engine cover

Postby paulrob100 » Thu Jun 01, 2017 8:41 pm

Despite my GTA having black seats & grey carpets, the engine cover is dark blue. Is this normal (standard) ? Or should it be black ? I cannot remember the original spec. More to the point, if its wrong, is there a correct one out there ?
Thanks Paul

Mine has a black engine cover, grey cloth seats and that wonderful grey/green main carpet with grey striped headlining.
Sounds like yours is the same(but with leather seats).
Nothing stopping you retrimming to make it all match, except reflections in the rear view mirror.

thanks Lee

My car has black cloth upholstery, with grey carpets & door cards. It might be possible to get the engine cover carpet dyed, or like you say it can be retrimmed.

Re-trim it if it's getting threadbare.

Yes re-trim. I think they fade with age and become blue rather than black.

Yes, I think various bits of Alpine carpet fade from black to other colours.
Some pieces seem to turn dark blue, some grey and some grey/green...
Very odd :D

Cheap carpet. Dye fades with sunlight and turns blue.

Originally black.
