Another tough day on Saturday and one I spent most of the time watching weather forecasts. We cautiously fitted the treaded road tyres for practice due to damp patches on the track from the overnight rain. Most others chose slicks and, from the pits at least the track looked bone dry by the time we started..... no worries, pole position anyway with a fast 54.91- a good time considering!
Completely dry for the start of the race though, so slicks on and position held at the start for a few laps then 6 cars got into a marauding gang like Nascar pack racing. (see photos 2 posts down to see what I mean!) From the pits we can only see what comes past us but Riku was at the head of the pack one lap and then last of the pack the next and next time around he was first again. This group included all 3 Clio cup cars, a BMW or 2, and the most experience racer of all, Bill Richards in his Mini! Result though as by luck when the flag came out we were at the front! 7th place overall and 1st in class. Should be a good video once we get time to sort it.
As second race time approached the skies had darkened and the wind picked up- but still no rain. No way could I decide to put wets on.... the treaded road tyres were an option but delayed the decision too long so we went on Slicks. Needless to say the rain started as the grid lined up- a tense race then. Cars were off everywhere including a Sierra Cosworth into the pit wall and the Seat in the gravel at Paddock Hill. Safety car out and eventually red flagged after a few laps. Only 8 laps completed with only 5 at speed. 9th place and class second for us and much relief for us in the pit lane.
Championship positions now: We are 5th overall and first in class but Steve Rothery, although didn't catch us up this time, is fast becoming our biggest threat.
Next race August 19 or 20th Brands Hatch.

never thought I would want a list but now find myself needing one just to remind me: Clio V6 230, 5 gt turbo, 5 Gordini turbo, Megane RS 300 Trophy.
