The joys of Irish VRT (Vehicle Registration Tax)

Hi All, Just thought I would let you all know how much VRT I just paid to re register my recently imported 1990 V6 GTA into Ireland

Total due to Irish Revenue €1,500.00 euro - actually not bad , I was expecting approx €2,500.00 :mrgreen

I paid €3,175 euro last time in 1999 for my 1988 V6 Turbo GTA

All governments just use motorists as cash cows! I thought we were in the EU free trade area. Fat chance!!! I paid out loads of stuff when I imported a Moto Guzzi from Italy last year.
I read a report on speed cameras today. In the 12 years we have had them here the accident rate has remained constant in the areas where they are sited yet they have contributed a net sum of £700,000,000 to the treasury. There are only 4 cameras on the 102 miles of roads with officially the highest accident ratings (so called black spots). Now why are none of us surprised?

That's why the Irish have the expression "It's a FINE ting to be sure!" and "Donnelly's Sausages.......". Can't remember the rest.

but road tolls though

Yes but just look at the roads! They are unbelievable! I lurv driving in France athough it pays to wait a while after the Payage so they dont clock your speed to the next one.
