Good news...it's running...but clearly in need of many adjustments and very rich. Can't get it to idle slowly enough to use my strobe on it ...yet.
Bad news...massive oil leak from left rocker, even after some (even) tightening but it's progress.....
Cause...schoolboy error....out of petrol.... :hang

has anyone tried washing the heat proof bag for the spare wheel.

Yes with plenty of vanish but if there are any tears at all they will open up worse in the machine and it may loose some of its shape. You could also try the dry clearers.

Well, it did have some before I fixed the ignition fault....
Just hadn't realised what a great petrol vapour maker the cars can be, it had all gone down the exhaust.
Btw...are Atmos supposed to be noisy....exhaust is quite loud, but 'm glad to know that it's noisy, beats the silence before...

Re "are atmos noisy" well with the mecaparts short exhaust then yes..or so my neighbours tell me..
It was a bit quieter with the stock long non stainless exhaust.
If I am returning late or going out early I tend to use the turbo (which has a sports exhaust..but rattles the windows less)..

Thanks Dave, the atmo has a standard exhaust at present, I was surprised how noisy it was...but it was idling at 2500 so maybe that's the cause.

Well, not much progress aside of the fact that it now has a working handbrake and starts consistently...now we just need to get that idle speed down a little from the 2500 at present...
Small steps, but progress.

Rear light unit lens retaining clips...

Has anyone else taken their rear lights apart? Mine were filthy inside so I decided to clean them...found out that some of the spring clips are missing which is why the dirt is getting in.

Having spend a could of hours on google it looks like having some made might be the only choice unless someone has found an equivalent part or another way of retaining them....
Any suggestions?

Have decided to try and make my own clips, spring steel ordered, heat treatment will be fun :angel

But new issue...... how much movement should there be in the bonnet hinges?
I left my front bonnet open this afternoon and when I came to close it the bonnet hit the scuttle plates (by the wipers). This is new.
I have has a wiggle about and I can get about 1" of movement in both directions with all the bolts tight...I'm assuming this isn't normal?
Is there a missing trick or do I need new hinges?

Are there not any spare clips you can use on the pair of rear lights I sold you?

Hinges sound like they are worn, the only thing you can change are the three bolts underneath the bonnet to give some forward and back alteration. If you can't get them new I have one used set left.

I have just fitted a new IR sensor and key set, so now have remote locking.(they are still available new) ...that's the good news. I also have a working radio too...I haven't found any cassettes as yet to test the cassette player...that might be expecting a bit too much.
Getting the remote locking working has shown up a new fault.
Locking the car remotely and one or both of the doors open (not unlock, they actually open). Same happens if you press the lock button on the dash.
The key in the drivers side door lock won't trigger the central locking close function, although the unlock function does work...and will also open the doors.
The drivers door lock doesn't lock even with the button down either.
Unless someone has a better suggestion, I think both door locks need to come out for a clean.
Progress, if slow....

Wow...that beats my ElO, moody blues and and Kate bush selection...all last played in the last century....
Amazing to think that CD and DVD have come and gone whilst this car has been off the road too.
