Tore a rear ARB droplink off with heavy launch on 2nd run.Was a new SA one but not as strong as the old Renault ones. Will have to knock something up like a rose-joint link...
Fixed with a Jclip wrap but something else was still moving, big clunk when engaged/disengaged gears.....end of play. I'll get car on ramp and hope it's just a mount or bush...If it's box I have a newly built one with LSD and different gearing so that will go in.
I did get the car passport done though so not a bad day really :up

Scrap that ..
Doing trackday at Blyton on the 8th instead as it's part of the championship, local, and I need to learn....track, car, driving.
Time in seat rather than 5 mins up a hill I've never even seen. That, I think is the biggest downside to the sprint/hillclimb thing. You just can't get enough practice in.
Plan is still full on wheel to wheel.

Looks like no metal band in the ARB link? Naughty if not and Simon Auto are selling as GTA. Those are just cheap R5 ones if they are all rubber and won’t last 5 mins. Ask for a refund.

Gearbox mount looks homemade but the glued type always fall apart eventually.

So Stephen,
Is there a better source for the ARB links...I assume Renault don’t supply any more?
Cheers

I had the droplinks on back order from Renault for about a year ....still nothing.....
Yes,the SA do not have the outer band but it's Hobson's choice. I am loading everything a lot more so for std car road car they would probably be OK. I've put a good quality J clip wrap on the new ones for now until I come up with something else.

There is a steel ring moulded in around the hole for the ARB but that just ripped clean through.

my gearbox mount looks rather different to that one.
I will be checking my ARB rubber links....might put a clip round the outside too.

Next event at Curborough Sunday 20th May.

Tight, twisty and you come back on yourself in a figure of 8.
It's a great track to spectate as you can see the whole run. Just off the A38/A5 near Lichfield .

Hope all goes well tomorrow Lee, get there early for paddock space! drive tow vehicle up on the grass was the only way we could set up there.
never thought I would want a list but now find myself needing one just to remind me: Clio V6 230, 5 gt turbo, 5 Gordini turbo, Megane RS 300 Trophy.

Cheers Mark, yes, I remember from Ratty's test day there. Parked up on grass OK and we're right down the bottom end so should be OK. It's only an hour away from me so no silly o'clock start.
Scooby competition again so we'll just have to see. Only driven there that shakedown day and only second time out ....hope it all plays nice this time.
They have merged all the modprod in one class for the day .Clio, Escort on slicks,Mini Cooper, a Ford Anglia and the Scoob

I got some official times on the board :up

No problems apart from me forgetting to turn left on my first timed run.I just need time in seat ......All the competition were on slicks and running mid 60 secs.Clio was on street tyres and got a 67 I think. My best was in practice at 72.
