Made up brackets for the radiator for the bottom mounts and to fit the fans. Used 20mm x 2mm aluminium strip.

Investigating options for these wheels. Apparently they are BBS 288 PCB 270 CB so can be rebuilt as 15” which would fill the front arches much better.

Still not sure if I like them though. Look better on the reverse side imo.

Trial fit front grille mesh. Aperture still needs a little trimming to make it perfectly symmetrical.

Front compartment mostly completed now and happy with the layout.

Need to sort the wiring spaghetti next!

Someone had cut a great big hole in the bulkhead where the loom comes through.

8AA2A37A-84C8-448D-A287-EEA063F328A2.jpeg

Not so easy to repair nicely in fibre glass so decided to make an aluminium panel.

First I made a cardboard template:

Then used this as a guide to cut out an aluminium panel:

Don’t worry there is a rubber grommet to fit!

Trial fitting rims and tyres to set size for front and rear.

78638892-8B79-4676-B366-3612A5107DA4.jpeg

Fronts are looking like 4” outer 2.5” inner to suit 195/50/15. The test tyre pictured is Toyo R888 which has an actual width of 201mm

F0E3E3AC-8638-4AD9-BBEF-1E070BFF35FD.jpeg

Here are the rears before. You can see the offset is completely wrong for the big arches and the wheels are way too small.

3D8A7880-EBB5-4E07-BA74-5DF8F8D73795.jpeg

Here are the rears after with a 5.5” outer. Test tyre pictured is Toyo R888 235/50/15 which has an actual width of 250mm. This tyre is no longer available and is slightly too big anyway. Final build will have a 3” inner to suit 225/45/15 or 245/40/15 which has an actual with of 248mm.

D4F929C3-78CA-4CC3-A95F-B79075801050.jpeg

I would like Toyo R1R 225/45/15 but the rear tyre cannot be sold in the EU as it does not meet EU labelling requirements. It is available in the USA but they are prohibited from shipping them here. That leaves Nankang AR-1 or Avon ZZS as the only other rear options.

4A8CB38E-1540-41A5-9154-11B37C876D83.jpeg

Car is still jacked up in the photo above. I can’t put my air in the tyres but here are a couple of pics with the car lowered to the intended ride height.

Thanks to Simon Taylor for the test tyres.

If you are putting spacers on the front, check for tyre rub (MOT failure) with the car on the ground as well as car lifted and suspension/wheels hanging free. Geometry does all sorts of weird things with spacers and offset changes etc. Otherwise looking good, look forward to seeing it on the hill at Prescott in 2019.

No spacers required as physically changing the inner and outer rim width :-)

I’ve been putting this off for ages. Made a template and cut away the rest of the original rear arches today. Dusty work!
