GTA engine mounts

Postby paulrob100 » Tue Dec 18, 2018 9:55 pm

I have 2 new engine mounts for my GTA. How difficult is it to do with the engine in-situ. It looks like the exhaust will need to be disconnected at least.

Thanks

Pretty easy pizzy, by the looks of it. Jack up and support engine, but could be fighting against a bit load of suspension load.

...umm I've done it a few times, and unless it was me, it wasn't easy pizzy.. but usually odd circumstances and on the road side as well, more than once... so look forwards to the feedback :up

Don't tell 'em Pike!

Cut the stud down a bit and use a nyloc.

yeah it certainly not easy haha
I had to cut down the threads to fit, but still not easy, change both while you are at it.

It’s only because the studs are a bit long and angled at 45 degrees that makes it a bit awkward as they effectively lock/fight against each other. Lift one completely out first and then do the other side to make it a bit easier. Shorten the studs a bit as previously suggested. Trim them before fitting and don’t make them too short! I find that getting the upper part of the mount off the crank case can sometimes be hard if it’s really corroded on.
